Quick note: OCuLink describes a connection, not a guarantee that every host, dock and graphics card will work together. Confirm support for your exact hardware and operating system before ordering.
1. Confirm the host has the right port
Check the exact mini PC or motherboard specification for an external OCuLink port. An internal M.2 connector is not the same as a ready-to-use external port: using one may require an adapter, an open slot or case changes, and it may take lanes away from another device. Check the manufacturer's documentation and the system layout for your exact model.
2. Find the link generation and lane configuration
Look up the host's OCuLink generation and lane width, then compare them with the dock's requirements. The connection's theoretical bandwidth is only one part of real performance. The workload, GPU, host platform and driver support all matter, so avoid treating a single bandwidth number as a promised frame rate.
3. Check what the dock actually includes
Listings may show a bare adapter board, an enclosure, a power supply or a bundle of cables as if they were interchangeable. Read the included-items list and photographs carefully. Confirm the cable type and length, power input, GPU power leads, and whether the enclosure or stand is included.
4. Match power to the card and dock
The dock and graphics card need a suitable power supply. Compare the supply's continuous output and connectors with the GPU manufacturer's requirements; leave reasonable headroom and account for the rest of the system. A listing title such as “750W” alone does not tell you which cables are included or whether the supply fits the enclosure.
5. Measure the graphics card and the space
Check the card's length, height, thickness and power-connector clearance against the enclosure. Confirm cooling direction and ventilation too. A card can meet the electrical requirements and still not fit the dock or desk space you have.
6. Decide where the display will connect
Connecting a monitor directly to the graphics card is a straightforward starting point. Sending frames back to the mini PC's internal display follows a different path and can affect performance. Decide how you plan to use the setup, and check the operating system and graphics drivers before buying around a particular workflow.

Compare the complete setup
When comparing offers, compare the same bundle: host adapter, dock or enclosure, power supply, cables and GPU. Note which items are optional, which specifications come from the manufacturer and which are seller claims. Prices and stock change, so confirm current details with the retailer.
