How to choose an
OCuLink eGPU dock.
Start with the path.

A practical guide to host interfaces, adapters, risers and power inputs. The profiles below link each stated specification to its source; unsourced figures and prices are left out.

Research-led buyer’s guide · updated September 2026

First distinction: an OCuLink dock, an M.2-to-OCuLink adapter, and an M.2-to-PCIe riser are not the same product. Check the connector at each end of the complete path.

1. Identify the host connection

A native OCuLink host can connect to a matching dock by cable. The Minisforum DEG1 profile lists OCuLink and PCIe 4.0 x4, while JEYI PH47A is documented as M.2 M-key to OCuLink SFF-8612 at PCIe 4.0 x4. PH47A therefore adds an OCuLink connector to a compatible M.2 host path; it does not make every M.2 slot compatible. Confirm the host slot’s protocol and wiring in the host manufacturer’s documentation.

2. Keep direct M.2 risers distinct from OCuLink

The ADT-Link K43SG and R43SG are both listed as M.2 M-key to PCIe x16 risers. The seed evidence does not identify either as an OCuLink dock. K43SG’s cited source lists PCIe 4.0/5.0 signal support and an ATX 24-pin input. R43SG’s cited source lists a dedicated Dell DA-2 8-pin input, an SW1 delay switch and an ATX 24-pin input. Variant-specific link generation for R43SG remains unknown in this catalog.

3. Portable all-in-one designs use a different trade-off

The GPD G1 combines an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT, a 240W GaN power supply and OCuLink plus USB4 connectivity, according to the manufacturer reference included in the research package. These are sourced product attributes; this guide does not infer performance differences between its connection modes.

4. Check power independently

The connector and power input are separate compatibility questions. DEG1’s cited data lists an ATX/SFX 24-pin input. The R43SG source lists both a Dell DA-2 dedicated input and a standard ATX 24-pin input. The Dell DA-2 profile records 12V, 18A and 220W from its referenced documentation and flags the proprietary 8-pin pinout from a community reference. Do not treat that connector as a standard EPS or PCIe cable; confirm the exact pinout and wiring before connecting power.

5. Check what the source actually establishes

A product name, a technical specification and a retail bundle answer different questions. The research set does not provide verified seller offers or package contents for these profiles. Confirm the exact model revision, cable, power supply and included parts with the manufacturer or seller before purchase. Price and marketplace availability are not listed here.

Quick selection checklist

  • Write down the host’s exact connector: native OCuLink or an available M.2 M-key PCIe slot.
  • Match connector types end-to-end; PH47A creates an OCuLink path, while K43SG and R43SG connect M.2 to PCIe x16.
  • Check generation and lane details against the exact host and adapter revision; unknown values in our profiles are intentionally left blank.
  • Check power input and pinout separately. In particular, treat the Dell DA-2 8-pin as proprietary.
  • Verify bundle contents and merchant terms on a specific offer. GearForLab currently has no verified offers or prices for these products.
